Kathouse: The Story So Far

THE STORY SO FAR…

Before Lux. Before the gunshots. Before the courtroom, the engagement, and the betrayals that nearly buried them all—there was Kathouse.

Kathouse wasn’t just a building. It was an empire disguised as a home—a place where beautiful women sold fantasies to powerful men and everybody understood that pleasure came with a price.

For Babs, better known to clients as Black Barbie, escorting was never supposed to be permanent. It was a means to an end. She was beautiful, calculated, disciplined, and always ten steps ahead. Her body may have opened doors, but her mind was what kept her alive once she entered them.

At least, that was what she believed.

Behind the scenes was Shelly—Michelle Rodriguez—the real heartbeat of Kathouse. Shelly answered the phones, scheduled the appointments, managed the money, found clients online, and kept the entire operation moving while studying to become an attorney. She and Babs weren’t biological sisters, but the bond they shared had been built in childhood and strengthened through survival.

Babs protected Shelly like family because, in every way that mattered, she was.

Kathouse was operated by Babs’s biological sister, Kat, and Kat’s partner, Tony. But family didn’t make the house safe. Tony saw the women as money, Kat repeatedly chose the business over her sister, and Babs slowly realized that the same place feeding them could eventually destroy them.

That realization became impossible to ignore after one appointment with a client named Carl.

During their session, Babs heard what sounded like a woman screaming for help from inside his basement. As Carl hurried her out, she caught a glimpse of a pale face through a small window. Babs tried convincing herself that she was imagining things, but her instincts knew better.

Then Carl called Kathouse and asked for Black Barbie.

He knew Shelly’s real name.

Soon after, Shelly realized she was being followed.

Babs was ordered to keep working as though nothing had happened, but for the first time, she chose herself and Shelly over Kathouse. She quit, packed their belongings, and took Shelly to a home she had secretly prepared for them in Philadelphia.

It was supposed to be their fresh start.

Instead, the danger followed them.

Kat was kidnapped, and Babs received an ultimatum: surrender Shelly in exchange for her sister. Refusing to sacrifice either woman, Babs and Shelly attempted to handle the situation themselves. Before they could reach help, their car was violently struck. Shelly was dragged from the wreckage, Babs was attacked, and the man behind it made certain she recognized his voice.

Carl.

The client Babs should have never underestimated.

Somehow, Babs and Shelly survived. But survival didn’t erase what had happened. It only changed the shape of their fear.

Philadelphia eventually offered them another chance.

Babs met Leaf—a powerful, disciplined Muslim man who saw beyond Black Barbie and became interested in the woman underneath her armor. He didn’t approach her like a client. He didn’t ask her to perform. He offered patience, protection, and a kind of love Babs had never trusted enough to believe she deserved.

For the first time, Babs began imagining a life where softness didn’t equal weakness.

Shelly found her own connection with Reek, Leaf’s trusted brother and second-in-command at the community recreation center operated by Leaf’s mother, Ms. Kareemah. While Babs explored love with Leaf, Shelly continued pursuing her dream of becoming an attorney.

Together, Babs and Shelly began transforming their survival money into something legitimate: Lux Gentleman’s Club.

But the past wasn’t finished collecting its debts.

Darryl and Kat resurfaced at Shelly’s graduation, turning what should have been one of the proudest days of her life into violence. Gunfire erupted. Darryl was killed. Kat was wounded. And Leaf was arrested for crimes he hadn’t committed.

The real shooter was Latif—one of Leaf’s own people.

Leaf’s loyalty allowed Latif close enough to study him, resent him, and ultimately betray him. While Leaf sat behind bars, Babs refused to abandon him. She set a trap, recorded Latif admitting enough of the truth to expose his jealousy, and turned the evidence over to Leaf’s attorney.

Months later, Lux finally opened its doors.

Shelly had passed the bar. Babs had built the legitimate business she once only dreamed about. Their mothers stood together, their chosen family surrounded them, and for one brief moment, everything they had endured appeared to have been worth it.

Then Leaf walked into Lux, dropped to one knee, and asked Babs to become his wife.

She said yes.

Before they could celebrate, gunshots tore through the room.

Shelly was struck.

She survived, but her recovery brought another betrayal. Meka—a woman Shelly trusted, loved, and had allowed into one of the most vulnerable parts of her life—was secretly using Shelly’s hospital pain pump to keep her heavily sedated.

Shelly overheard Meka speaking to someone on the phone.

“She is not dead,” Meka whispered. “She is very much alive.”

Shelly alerted Babs using a childhood code known only to the two of them. Babs arrived at the hospital with Leaf and caught Meka with Shelly’s phone—and her hand on the medication pump.

Babs assumed Kat was responsible.

Meka swore she didn’t know anyone named Kat.

Then Babs found an unfinished message on Meka’s phone:

They know.

She handed Leaf the number and told him to call it.

He didn’t have to.

Leaf recognized it immediately.

The number belonged to Latif.

The same man who had betrayed Leaf.

The same man who had already tried to destroy their family.

And apparently, he wasn’t finished.

Neither were they.
